Saturday 25th June 2005
1345 - 1515hr
Weather and Sky:
A dull afternoon following a similar morning. Wind: NE F3. Temp: 14 dp 11. Visibility: Ingleborough / Drax max very hazy. Cloud: deep stratocumulus 8ok with low base. Pressure: rising strongly all day with 1024 @ 1345 and 1025 by 1515hr.
A short stay today. Noteable for a steady procession of Lapwings NW throughout, in ones and threes totalling 14. This move was also noted later on at home while checking for Swifts. Swifts whilst present were hard to find with a total of 40 seen going north and 6 south, mostly singles but up to 4 max. The large Swift numbers of last week have now mostly gone or feeding elsewhere in these cool and overcast conditions. Otherwise, a few Curlews and Oystercatchers west and south-west with gulls predictably north-west.
Moving birds:
Lapwing 14 > NW
Swift 40 > N
Swift 6 > S
Oystercatcher 2 > SW
Curlew 2 > W and SW
Stock Dove 2 > W
Starling 4 > W
Gulls (a few ) > NW
Meadow Pipit 6 > N
Dave.
