Caldene Fields Watchpoint 21-10-2007

Caldene Fields Watchpoint, Low Moor.
 

21st  of October 07 07.15 – 10.15am

Weather:  A dry frosty morning with 20% thin low cloud and sunny periods after dawn. Small patches of ground mist to the S/E.  F1 S/W wind with good visibility to 2 miles. Temp 1c

 

Comments: A brilliant morning with an excellent finch movement noted.  Unprecedented numbers of Greenfinch and Chaffinch passed through with 8 parties of 12 and above and a single party of 22 Chaffinch moving more Northerly than Greenfinch.  Siskin were also moving but mainly calls only were noted.  Starling also showed well with 5, 50+ parties noted mainly around 09.00

Alba Wagtail >  5 N/W + 3S total 8

Blackbird > 1N

Redwing > 118 /SS/W

Fieldfare > 10 N/W + 54 S/W total = 64

Starling > 733 N/W

Jackdaw > 1 N/W + 5 S total= 6

Carrion Crow > 3 S/S/W + 7 N/W total =10

Chaffinch > 4 E + 201 N/N/W total = 205 ( a site record )

Greenfinch > 83 N/W ( a site record )

Goldfinch > 10 S + 1 N/W total =11

Siskin > 5 N/W

Redpoll > 4N + 4S total 8
