Rain Band Clearing to the NE (c) HC 2008
Stratoculmulus overdrawing from the W (c) 2008
07-11-2008
0950 -1230hr HC
0900hr SSE F3/4, 7degC, 10km, 6/8 rain clearing from west, QNH 1002 rising
1000hr SSW F3/4, 8degC, 65km, 3/8, QNH 1003 rising
A later session today due to the heavy rain early morning. SSW F3/4.Initially 3/8 followed by 08/08 from late morning. A clear day at last after the terrible gloom - visibility out to Drax.
Following news that yesterday`s fall of thrushes on the east coast had cleared out by 10.00 am, expectations were high, BUT, sorry to report that the expected movement here did not materialise - they appeared to have gone a different route with possibly a more south west bias.
Moving birds in order of appearance :-
Meadow Pipit - 4 W
Skylark - 1 E
Starling - 255 NW (8 groups,largest 100 birds)
Goosander - 2 male S and 1 female S later
Redwing - 35 NW (2 groups)
Fieldfare - 62 NW (1 flock)
Chaffinch - 4 SW
A single party of three Red Admiral`s flew west over embankment late morning.

Hey up Dave,
I sent this e-mail to you couple of hours ago, but seemingly system has had problems - just to say sorry for no vis-mig report for today - been to Spurn. There was a large fall of thrushes and blackbirds there today - conditions were pretty misty, mild and still. Some birds yet to come our way hopefully !.
Also had Pallas`s Warbler in Kilnsea church yard, Dusky Warbler at Post 29, Hawfinch near Warren, Black Redstart at Parade Ground, 20 Woodcock, flock of 43 Snow Buntings within 30 feet,18 Brambling and loads of Goldcrests - some literally at my feet.
Cheers
Howard
