Wheatear Passage Glovershaw 28/30-04-2009

There has been a fall of Wheatears at Glovershaw with 25 passing through in the past three days. Almost all of them have been in the paddock area, behind Golcar Farm where it's drier and there are banks and low stone walls. On the 28th there were ten birds, another ten yesterday and today just five. They were split as 19 females and six males. Some of the birds had distinct Greenland features, very buff breasts and much more rounded and bigger than earlier birds. Yesterday there was a nice male Whinchat in the fields behind the farm.
