SW F5 / F6, 5degC, 4000m increasing 7000, 8/8 with heavy rain initially soon ceasing then very occasional sun, QNH 1014 falling.
0820 - 1055hr
Rain from c0600hr delayed the start but it looked worse than it was and once outside it was ok.... but however... watch still from "indoors" today, not out of choice but through necessity! The open door forms a good shelter and enableing 180deg dry vision from NW through NE round SE with vision through the open windows round the other quarter sphere over the water if necessary (see snaps above). conditions soon improved with even a bit of sun. Sad after the effort that there wasent so much activity but at least that is confirmed now. Nevertheless the morning wasent a blank with just a few mipits "going for it" mainly in the lee through the rain and the LBB Gulls didnt seem to mind one bit... even a Herring Gull went through NW low over the water as did a Skylark but W into the blast.
Moving Birds:
Meadow Pipit 10 > N
Skylark 1 > W
LBB Gull 23 > NW
Herring Gull 1 > NW with lessers

I dont think the trees we planted there are going to be a forest in our lifetime, they must have been in 10yrs.
Its 16 years next Brian! everyting is slow up here.. the intention was to increase the diversity round the edge of the moor... and it certainly seems to be working. A forest is the last thing they will become. Dave.
