Another day with a considerable spell of almost static exceptionally heavy showers over our immediate area during the morning with much evidence of further inundation! Very little gull movement through the hills again although a turnover of small plovers kept the interest alive. The first Wheatear of the autumn went through with an undoubted sign of things to come being the first evening when absence of Oystercatcher, Curlew, Lapwing and Common Sand was noted. Currently a stratus ceiling extending over the full width of the eastern half of the country but open sky out to the far NW... Autumn deepens!.... and the moors silence....
