just bad!... 2011-10-09
Bradford (W Yorks, England)
Sunday 9 October 2011
Counting period: 6:30-8:35
Weather: wind West6, cloud-cover 8/8, precipitation drizzle, visibility 1000m, temperature 13 ℃, W F6 gusting F8, 9ok sheeting drizzle, 13degC, 30km - 200m variable fog stratus, QNH 1013 falling 1012
Observers: Dave Barker, Howard Creber, Lester Ward
Totals: 0 individuals, 0 species, 2:05 hours
Present: Skylark 1
Comments: An horrendous morning at this altitude with sheeting drizzle and somtimes rain, throughout after heavy overnight rain now tracking out over the east coast / N Sea interface. Visibility very variable throughout with the cloudbase often dropping to give total envelopment. Some good clear spells however and if there had been birds they would have been well seen today. but just nothing in the sky... best bird a grounded Skylark in the halflight of dawn, running almost between our legs at the watchpoint looking for food... tail and plumage in very poor condition.
