Members only watchpoint 31-08-2005 eve.
Wednesday 31st August 2005
1830 - 2030hr
Weather and Sky:
A rapidly deteriorating afternoon, following a humid, hot hazy morning with thunderstorms over Bradford starting c1700hr and continuing to a lesser extent later on. Wind: NW F1 / calm, becoming S F1 / 2. Temp: 18. Visibility: Ingleborough max NNW, 2km max E. Precipitation: none at watchpoint, but edge of secondary storm passed only c1000m to the south-east. Cloud: 7ok strato base, clear to far west, storms clearing gradually eastwards. Pressure: falling quickly all day with 1008 @ 1830hr and 1006hpa by 2030hr. Mist forming over valleys and lying over moors. A very humid evening, but skies clearing from the west suggested the worst is over.

Total clearout by 1830hr, no birds except about ten Lesser blacked Gulls and the local wildfowl. No Meadow Pipits seen or heard but a group of 16 Swallows moving SSE were followed across the black sky. These were the only birds in the sky. Robins heard singing from wood tonight.

Moving Birds:
Swallow 16 > SSE

Dave.
