South Pennines 24-05-2008

Meadow Pipit (c) 2008

Oxenhope and various other sites throughout the day.
0730 - 1730hr
ENE F4>5, 17degC, vis 30km max, 4/8, QNH 1016 rising then falling.

Today noteable for Swifts moving east all day into the wind, seen at all localities visited with numbers on the move picking up in the afternoon and amounting to many hundreds seen, if not into the thousands. Otherwise a dowdy, colourless phylloscopus sp with dark legs seen very briefly at the watchpoint mid morning was in view of the conditions / habitat / time of year of more than passing interest.
