NW F3 reducing NW F1, 5degC, 65km+, 5/8 improving 1/8, QNH 1014 rising.
A lovely sunny morning after yesterdays gales and driving rain. Initially 5/8 Stratocumulus with Lenticularis improving to 1/8. NW F3/2 moderating to F1. Visibility 40 miles to 3 Peaks but more hazy out to Drax.
There was a surge of Fieldfares in first half hour (323 birds with 230 in 5 groups at 07.25 hrs). All thrushes came out of Airedale and flew SW into Calderdale. Odd Redwings in and among. A Goldfinch accompanied the largest Fieldfare flock of 90 birds.
Moving birds in order of appearance :-
Fieldfare - 323 SW (9 flocks)
Goldfinch - 1 SW (with a Fieldfare flock)
Woodpigeon - 193 SW (7 flocks)
Meadow Pipt - 3 W
Redwing - 15 SW with Fieldfare flocks
Starling - 19 NW (4 flocks)
Alba Wag - 2 W
Greenfinch - 6 SW
Reed Bunting - 7 high NW
Chaffinch - 6 SE

Stonechat - local bird
Green Woodpecker - in wood again
Kestrel - local bird
