Friday 13 November 2009
Counting period: 7:00-8:45
Weather: Dry with 40% high cloud to the E/S/E and a temp of 5c. Open skies after dawn given excellent visibility well beyond 10 miles with a F1 S/W wind.
Observers: Martyn Priestley
Moving Birds:
Black-headed Gull 23 -
Jackdaw 2 -
Woodpigeon - 4
Carrion Crow 25 -
Meadow Pipit 1 -
Chaffinch 1 -
alba wagtail sp. 18 -
finch sp. 10 -
Fieldfare 138 -
Greenfinch 25 -
Redwing 6 -
Goldfinch 11 -
Magpie 1 -
Bullfinch - 5
Totals: 270 individuals, 14 species, 1:45 hours
Comments: Exceptional clear visibility today sadly few birds were moving. There was however, a noticeable minor movement of Fieldfare which were coming in from the E/S/E. 5 small parties were noted and 4 of these rested in trees by my watch point and then left to the N/N/W. A number of bullfinches were noted this morning to the N/W but were judged to be local birds and a high flying Magpie to the S/W was interesting.
