Oxenhope... dispersal suspended! 14-07-2010

S F3, 14degC, 65km to NW extensive cunim and storms to E and NE, 8/8, QNH 998 falling
1845 - 2030hr

Heavy rain last evening until c midnight then drizzle throughout the early hours but dry by morning... o/cast all day but dry until c1500hr, then heavy and prolonged showers working NNE, with an exceptionally heavy band of thunderstorms between 1750 and 1845 increasing in intensity as they went but always more to east of Pennines whilst working its way up from the low countries. Now at 1845 dry again but sky sterile and empty and shoreline deserted with virtually no birds.... gull dispersal suspended! Radar currently shows a further active band of thunder storms working NE and stretching right down the length of the country to the south and west of us with the front edge just north of Manchester and almost upon us... thunder heard, lightning beyond the horizon, sky darkening.... leave watchpoint in haste!! Cloudbase dropping to envelope the watershed and plateaux....
