1830 - 2130hr
A fantastic calm evening after a fine sunny day. The tranquillity was over whelming... just wall to wall birds in the basin all calm and undisturbed... with arrivals and departures all of the time confirming the obvious turnover taking place. Thought there might have been a Swift move south tonight but not to be!
Moving birds:
LBB Gull 320
Herring types (2s) 2
Curlew 5 > W
Swift 10 > S
BH Gull 76
01-07-2010
S F4, 20degC, 25km, recent and present rain showers, 8/8, QNH 1010 falling
1600 - 2130hr
A front crossing the country during the visit but with the showers dying back to cease. An early start today again on the presumption of a big Swift move to the south in view of the cyclonic approach.... but none at all tonight... oh well... may be next time it happens! Gull passage much reduced presumed due to the change in the weather but Curlews active with a large flock of 41 in from the east during the early evening to stay briefly... more Oystercatcher than of late with a obvious passage occuring.
Moving birds:
LBB Gull 125
herring types (2s) 1
Curlew 43 > W
Oystercatcher 6 > W
Dunlin 1
BHGull 55
