Oxenhope... spring wader roosts return! 26-02-2011

Lapwing pre roost..... four images (c) 2011

1500 - 1800hr

Much brighter after a wet first part of the morning....
Spring is here on the Oxenhope moors as well.... and despite the weather today. No actual vis seen as wasnt looking for it but the traditional pre breeding assembly Curlew roost tonight is up at more than 50 after nothing last weekend. The largest group was 36 slipping in silently over the water off the in-bye. Pre breeding Lapwing assembly c130 and a small flock of Golden Plovers looking for somewhere to come down.... Again neither of which were in evidence last weekend..... Canadas also back in numbers this weekend together with a couple of Greylags. "small" gull roost moved on. Suggest there has been a good bit of unseen action in recent days..... Just wish I could get out!
Dave
