Low sun through squalling hail... (c) 2011
The "mediterranean" east!.... (c) 2011
Oxenhope, Bradford (W Yorks, England)
Tuesday 18 October 2011
Counting period: 7:00-9:00
Weather: wind West6, cloud-cover 4/8, precipitation hail, visibility 60000m, temperature 3 ℃, W F5/6 gusting more, 9 - 1ok, 3degC, sleet and hail, cunim, 200m - 65km, QNH 1001 rising
Observers: Dave Barker, Howard Creber
Cormorant 3 -
Fieldfare 6 -
Snipe 1 -
Reed Bunting 1 -
Meadow Pipit 6 -
Totals: 17 individuals, 5 species, 2:00 hours
Comments: A tremendous morning of great spirit and variation but of little use for vis. Frequent cumim squalls with hail and sleet tracking from the west but never really getting out into the deep blue mediterranean skies to our east... on the divide! Three single Cormorants came at intervals out of the gloom going fast east into the warmth of the sun whilst an exceedingly fast snipe cut west into the teath of the hail. Otherwise, just a few mipits and that was it!
