Caldene Fields Watchpoint 13-11-2008

The excellent movements continue! Birds still pouring through over Caldene Fields.

Caldene Fields, Low Moor, Bradford.
13th November 08 Watch 07.15 – 10.00
Weather: A dry start with 70% cloud cover and clearer skies to the E/S/E and a F2 S/W wind. These conditions created an excellent ‘window’ to the E/S/E which remained till around 09,00 when cloud came in from the S giving cloudy misty conditions to the E/S/E. Excellent visibility beyond 11 miles Temp 7c

Comments: Another excellent watch with thrushes, Starling and Woodies all on the move. The star species of the day was Fieldfare masses of which poured through often in mixed flocks with Redwing which also showed well. Woodies moved mainly to the S but not in the same numbers as yesterday. Starlings also moved well, and at 07.58 a single low ‘squadron’ of 700+ flew S/W right over my head ! BH Gulls were also moving S and a single party of 34 was noted. Two parties of Goosander (an uncommon bird here) moving S/W ‘ Put the icing on the cake for me today !’

Cormorant >1 S
Mallard > 5 S/W
Goosander > 11 S/W
Black Headed Gull > 148 S
