Oxenhope... too cold! 02-01-2009
Oxenhope, Bradford (W Yorks, England)
Saturday 2 January 2010
Counting period: 8:00-10:00
Weather: WNW F4, -1degC bitter cold!, 45km, heavy snow showers visible and towards the end here, 4 ok, QNH 1012 rising
Observers: Dave Barker
Moving Birds:
Black-headed Gull 15 - W
Great Black-backed Gull 7 - W
Common Gull 21 - W
Skylark 1 - W
Herring Gull 3 - W
Fieldfare 17 - W
Totals: 64 individuals, 6 species, 2:00 hours
Comments: Somewhat warmer than yesterday with lying snow line at c1000ft. Yet more snow overnight restricting access so two near adjacent watchpoints visited this am but gulls still passing west after the local roost departures had quelled and a single Skylark also west was interesting.... resorted to the car at times as essential shelter and for regeneration of warmth.
