Saturday 4th November 2006
0745 – 0910hr. (DCB, HC)
Weather and Sky:
An overcast morning becoming quite windy. W F4 rising F5, 6C, 10km, 7ok, 1032hPa steady.
Fieldfare and Starlings were just about the only moving birds with parties of each upto 100 constantly passing through. Most of the Starlings went by only inches from the ground hugging the contours and as such not easy to get onto and many would have been missed. No high parties of Fieldfare were seen and most went through in larger pure flocks at about c20feet up. Only three Redwings were seen in a separate party and somewhat higher, first picked up on call. All were going north west. No finches or mipits at all!
Moving Birds:
Fieldfare 856 > NW
Starling 975 > NW
Redwing 3 > NW
