Caldene Fields Watchpoint 22-11-2008

Excellent Visibility ! (c) MVP 2008

Looking S/S/E from Caldene Fields is my furthest viewpoint the Royd Moor Wind Farm located at Penistone, South Yorkshire and consists of thirteen 500 kW turbines.

Caldene Fields Watchpoint, Low Moor, Bradford.

22nd November 08 Watch 07.15 – 09.00
Weather: A damp cold morning with an early snow shower that lasted for about 10 minutes. There was 70% thin cloud cover with clearer skies to the N/E this reduced to 50% cover around 08.00. Excellent visibility to beyond 11 miles deducing to around 8 miles at 09.00. An F1 N/W wind slowly increase to F3 by 09.00. A drop in temp to 1c.

Comments: A Wood Pigeon movement was noted today due to the overnight drop in temperature. One thing I have noticed here since mid November is that the length of any movements have got shorter. By this I mean take Greenfinch as an example it now powers through from around 07.30 till 08.00 with parties of 6, 7 even 12 then like other species the number reduce to 3s, 2s and singles.

Black Headed Gull > 7 S
Wood Pigeon > 115 N + 787 S = 902
Alba Wagtail > 4 S + 7 N/W
Starling > 15 W/S/W
Redwing > 5 S/W
Blackbird > 1 W
Meadow Pipit > 1 W
C Crow > 7 N + 4 S
Greenfinch > 39 S/S/W
Chaffinch > 2 W/S/W
Goldfinch > 5 S/W
Reed Bunting > 1 N
