Oxenhope... desolation! 24-01-2010

Arctic Ice... still deep and thick (c) 2010

A thaw but still a long way to go! (c) 2010

No trace of debris from the roost (c) 2010

Foreside.... desolation! (c) 2010
0930 - 1130hr
WSW F1 becoming WNW F3, 3degC, 2000m variable mist and low cloud with drizzleing rain, 8/8, QNH 1022 rising
Signs of early spring with a couple of Chaffinch noisy in the wood and Great Tits singing... but nothing on the moor and no water for anything to alight... just thick ice giving 97% cover. In the sky small gulls were moving south all the time, with 11 Herring Gulls and 2 Great Black backed going the same way. No moorland birds in evidence despite the partial thaw of snow, that is except for the carrions.
Moving Birds:
Black headed Gull c65 > S
Common Gull c 20 > S
Herring Gull 11 > S
Great blackbacked Gull 2 > S
