Weather and Sky:
A very hot and humid afternoon with cloud closing after a fair weather morning. Wind: variable, S to W, calm to F2. Temp: 27 to 29deg C and very humid on moor. Visibility: Settle / Humber Bridge both a very hazy max. Cloud: stratus and stratocumulus spreading slowly from the west and south-west, with it coming the humidity, also rapidly developing cumulus mediocris, to towering cumulus, some becoming congestus to north and east. Initially 5ok, finally 7ok. Pressure: falling 1014 @ 1500, with 1012 by 1700hr.


Silent, empty skies this afternoon. Not a Swift to be seen at any range or visible height in the full two hours. Some distant hirundines, including Sands but no movement. Mipits gone for the moment and only two linnets seen. Very little gull movement at all, but lots of loafing……….

Moving birds:
Swallow 7 > SE in one group – no loitering.
Curlew 3 > W in high singles calling.
