Oxenhope Watchpoint 25-10-2007

0730 - 1000hr (Dave Barker / Howard Creber)
E F1, 6degC constant, 20km max haze, 8/8 stratus, QNH 1027 falling.

A terrible morning in all respects with virtually empty skies. Despite constant binning and scoping out virtually nothing was seen on the move. Abysmal!! Agree in total Tim that the coffers are now empty and we are waiting for the next surge of late October arrivals to penetrate inland. Of interest that the on site reservoir Gull roost is now exceeding 2000 birds most of which streamed off north just after first light and all were gone by c0800hr, as had the Goosanders. Both Redwings and Fieldfare were heard in the skies before light but during the count period very few were seen and even fewer heard.
