0630 - 1000hr D Barker
W F5, 6degC, 5 - 65km improving, 8/8 continuous rain and drizzle, QNH 1025 falling.

A disappointing morning of strong winds with rain and drizzle over the Pennines, more especially to the west. Despite this, Lesser black backed Gulls were still moving north west with 53 passing throughout the morning from first arrival. Also a third summer Herring Gull went through with one of the groups at c0930hr. The only other moving bird noted was a single Curlew also north west.

Moving birds:
Lesser black backed Gull 53 > NW
Herring Gull 1 > NW
Curlew 1 > NW
Black headed Gull 1 > NW

Others:
Dunlin 6
Oystercatcher 3
Ringed Plover 1
Wheatear 4

1500 - 1730hr D Barker
W F6, 9degC, 3000m max, 8/8 low stratus, horizontal driving drizzle, QNH 1019 falling.

An even worse afternoon than the morning was with horizontal driving drizzle, straight in the face.... but dry behind the wall!! However still a few birds moving with Lesser black backed Gulls going through NW and at least two Swifts low along the embankment also NW.

Moving birds:
Lesser black backed Gull 48 > NW
Swift 2 > NW

Horizontal Driving Drizzle from the W throughout the PM (c) 2009
