Rain, Rain and more Rain! (c) 2008

0800 - 1000hr
SW F3 rising SW F4, 12degC initially, 20km, overnight rain followed by many heavy showers, 7/8, QNH 1005 rising.

Still low cloud and drizzle on the moor up to just after 0800hr but then improving, with just drizzly showers, until o945 when heavy rain setting in. Virtually no passerines in the sky at all today up here except for just a couple of Grey Wagtails > west. Waders however were on the move with a good mix of species seen moving west and not seeming to mind the low cloud and frequent drizzle. The Wood was empty.

Moving Birds:
Grey Wagtail 2 > W
Ringed Plover 6 in one group > W
Common Sandpiper 2 > W off the end of the reservoir. Possibly a passage influx over the last few days?
Greenshank 1 > W
Snipe 2 > W
Cormorant 1 > W and one on the water. An influx with birds at Ogden an Leeshaw.
LBB Gull 12 > S
Dunlin 3 > W
