Watchpoint 21-01-2006 eve

Weather and Sky:
A bright and sunny afternoon but with high cloud gradually spreading from the west. Ideallic conditions for time of year, with little wind. Wind: W F1 / 2. Temp: 3C and falling. Visibility: Penyghent (46km) / Kippax (33km). Cloud: Cirrostratus and altocumulus advancing gradually from the west – open sky to east, total 4ok. Pressure: rising strongly over last 24hr with 1030hpa at 1650hr.

Gull roost much reduced on last visits with only just over c1000 small gulls present. Evening notable for eerie echoing around the quiet moor from several Little Owls at various ranges. A small skein of passing Pinkfeet was heard pinkwinking but not seen until the last minute and distant on departure high NW over the village when just about dark.
