Despite the ash cloud (I say in jest) as contrails were absent!...Lessers still going for it with packs of up to 19 out over Airedale and high over Calderdale all trucking gently NW into the wind. An adult BH Gull, scarce here at this time of year came in from the east and alighted before moving off also NW. A Common Gull did the same. Swifts and Swallows were in the sky and on the move in small numbers.

Oxenhope... just for the gulls! 16-05-2010

W F5 increasing F6, 8degC, 40km, 8/8 intermittent rain, QNH 1011 troughing
0805 - 1115hr

Conditions were against it from the start with heavy showers powering over the Pennines but this didnt stop the ever flowing gull traffic NW albeit keeping lower than normal with many hugging the contours of the topography. A considerable period of the watch was from the comfort of the car this morning due to the prolonged rain and drizzle. Stray sheep being rounded up ment nothing stopping off on the water today.

Moving Birds:
LBBGull 78 >NW
Herring Gull 3 > NW
