Members Only Watchpoint 28-10-2006
Saturday 28th October 2006
0715 – 0930hr. (DCB)
Weather and Sky:
An increasingly wet and windy morning with low cloud and poor visibility. SW F3 rising F5, 10degC, 3000m, low stratus and stratus fractus 7ok, damp and becoming heavy driving drizzle, 1017hPa steady.

Initial promise with Redwings and a few Fieldfare flooding past but before 0800hr all had dried up with the gate firmly shut. Then nothing and I mean nothing until c0900 with a few more Redwings in two flocks, then back to nothing again except for the rain!

Moving Birds:
Redwing 568 > WSW
Fieldfare 35 > WSW
Starling 1056 > W

Nothing else at all!!

Fieldfares Galore

Queensbury 27/10/06 0715-1115hrs

Another red ball sunrise and Fieldfares piling over > S in flocks of 30 - 100. I clocked over 1500 birds in casual observations to and at work and my wife rang me from home to say that she was getting flocks up to 100 going over the house. At 1115 the rain came and movement stopped until mid afternoon when the weather had cleared and a few more flocks moved over.
