Big Movement Morning

25/10/06 0700-0830hrs Queensbury.

A vis miggers dream morning with big red ball sunrise,mist in the valley and the smell of vis mig,you know those mornings well don,t you Dave. From first light Fieldfare, Redwing and Mipits were piling over >S joined by Woodpigs in their hundreds by 0745. This continued until 0830 when the sky clouded and dampness set in, from then it was just like someone had shut the gate and the skies were empty. No counts were taken as these were casual observations whilst walking to , and at, work.

Redwings before Dawn

Big movement of Redwings this am (Weds 25th) over Wilsden West Yorks. Constant calling from overflying birds during the edge of dawn between 0645 and 0700 at least. Nothing like this before during this autumn. Sky clear, light wind, temp 5degC and bright red clear sunrise much later on(First frost here yesterday!!!!)
