House Martins Tonight 16-08-2008

1800 - 1830hr
Wilsden. Just before the rain.

Without doubt a crash in the House Martin colony here over the last few days. Very few were about last evening / earlier today and tonight only five could be located in the sky.

A very poor morning for the birds.... even less around than last week with few local and moving birds in evidence. Moving were a high Crossbill west at 0910hr and 22+ Swallows most of which went low west in a single group at 0915hr. Virtually nothing in the wood. The first Saturday shoot of the season.
