Comments: Quiet skies today - the grey blustery conditions were clearly not to the liking of the vis! What Mipit movement there was could only be descibed as feeble. Possibly more birds moved than could be seen, skirting the ground to avoid the wind - the Starlings were certainly at ground level. 3 Bramblings close overhead at 07.25 were good and a very clear Snow Bunting passed SE overhead at 07.55 hrs. That was it !.... Mipits - 80 W... Reed Bunting - 1 W.... Chaffinch - 22 SE... Greenfinch - 8 W ... Siskin - 8 (one flock) SE.... Goldfinch - 1 W.... Brambling - 3 SE .... Snow Bunting - 1 SE.... Alba Wag - 8 W.... Swallow - 1 SW... Mistle Thrush - 1 NW... Starling - 35 NW... Jackdaw - 10 NW...

Present: Grey Heron 1, Sparrowhawk 2, Red-legged Partridge 7, Little Owl 3, Green Woodpecker 1, Wheatear 1

Comments: The vis started off promising with a few Chaffinch, Redwings, Mipits and Starlings coming through but tailed off quickly with nothing after 09:15 other than 2 Meadow Pipits. The 12 Siskin came through so low that they nearly flew into me and veared off at the last second! A Wheatear on the deck was a bonus as were 7 R L Partridge in the nearby quarry and 3 Little Owls very vocal.

Comments: A lot of movement today with BH Gulls ‘ pouring’ through mainly over Bierley and to the S for the whole of the watch. A noticeable increase in Alba mainly to the S. My first Snipe of the autumn went through and Goldfinches again were strong. Having a bit of a ‘ purple patch ‘ at the moment here and this morning 4 Twite flew S directly over my head!! only second ever record here. 2 Song Thrush went S which were interesting and 2 parties of Starling S/W were tracked coming from the N/E at distance and could well of been continentals. 1 grouded Chiffchaff
